As you know that cancer is one of the most common diseases that are vastly spread across the United States. People of any age group and gender are affected from it. Therefore, it is important that you should have the awareness towards this disease. Cancer is divided into various types and one among them is the ovarian cancer, which occurs in women over the age of 50 or more, but in rare cases adults are also affected from it.

The information about ovarian cancer includes its diagnosis, symptoms, causes and treatments. It is diagnosed by CT scan or MRI scan, ultrasonography of pelvis, and pregnancy test. The signs of ovarian cancer include pain in the abdominal region, difficulty in eating, inflammation in the belly region, infection, frequent urination and vaginal bleeding.  Cancer of the ovary is the 9th common type of cancer in women in the United States. Almost 22,000 women are diagnosed with cancer of ovarian each year.

This type of cancer is the 5th leading cause of death in women. Surgery is the sole treatment of ovarian cancer, as it involves removal of the ovaries, uterus and lymph nodes of the pelvis. This treatment can only be successful, if it is diagnosed at the early stage. In some cases, chemotherapy is also given to the patients directly into the pelvis and abdomen in order to destroy the cancerous cells. It is recommended to seek for the assistance of the doctor, if any of the above signs and symptoms is noticed; otherwise it can be life threatening as well.
